What Is Mānuka honey?

Mānuka honey is a honey produced in New Zealand and Australia from the nectar of the Mānuka tree. It received wound management approval from the USFDA in 2007 and has been used in Australia for therapeutic purposes for Centuries. The nutrients, vitamins, amino acids and minerals in Active Mānuka Honey give it special qualities. The bioactivity of Mānuka Honey, referred to as the unique Mānuka factor (UMF), is associated with the strong antimicrobial activity of this honey against the bacteria E. coli and Staph. aureus, major sources of skin and wound infections. When looking for a good Mānuka, a UMF of 15+ or higher is preferred.
Mānuka is good for acne, wrinkled, troubled, uneven skin, burns, wounds, arthritis and eczema. Manuka honey is a potent antiseptic with proven antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal actions in addition to its famed antibacterial action. This makes it extremely effective as a treatment for a wide range of conditions.
Who Is Plantogen?
Plantogen is one of my favorite brands out there, because they were motivated by the belief in plants as effective ingredients in the improvement and maintenance of healthier, younger looking skin. They are a skin and hair care line which encompasses not only the most advanced scientific knowledge but also incorporates plant based technology because they know that many of our needs can be met via the utilization of earth’s resources, such as plants, but there is also a respect for science and how it allows for a sensible application of plant technology. Their products are packaged in recyclable jars, tubes and bottles and are cruelty free.
When Plantogen first asked me to review their Manuka line, I was stoked! Here’s a powerful anti-oxidant Honey product that – in itself – runs for about $45 for the good stuff. So to get a bunch of Manuka-based products delivered to my door was a God send!
Plantogen Purifying Cream Cleanser $28:
Made with Manuka, Chamomile & Vitamin E, this effective cleanser not only works incredibly well to remove makeup, dirt and grime, it delivers clear, even, happy skin! It’s my go-to “normal” cleanser (as opposed to my oil cleanser) because it’s thick, luxurious to use and feels lovely going on as well as works hard to keep your pores in shape! For under $30 this is a powerful Manuka cleanser that will really work to restore your skin’s youthful glow as it cleans!
Plantogen Manuka Honey Mask with Hops $48.60:
Would I like a powerful jar of decadent Manuka honey with Hops for clear, even skin? Why yes I would. Thank you.
The antioxidant rich Manuka Honey Mask helps to soothe and hydrate the skin through a combination of Hops extract, Oat Protein, Quangdong, Aloe Vera, Papaya Extract and Carrot Oil. These vitamins, minerals and enzymes help to improve skin texture and vitality while also making use of natural antibacterial properties. Made for all skin types, this may be my favorite product of the bunch because of it’s immense versatility. It smells amazing, and literally one drop is enough to cover your entire face! Used wisely, this mask can last you for ages!! It’s also perfect to add to other DIY masks as a powerful blemish-fighter!

Plantogen Royal Facelift Mask $92:
I had a girl friend over the other day and we were doing DIY face masks from the goodies in my beauty cabinet, and she picked this up and inquisitively said “Ooo! Bee Venom!”
Yes. Bee Venom indeed!
Many people think that Bee Venom is the key to healthy, youthful skin. The bee venom itself increases blood circulation, gently plumping out and firming the skin, filling and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, and the venom causes a rush of blood to the area and stimulates the production of natural collagen and elastin.
This “facelift in a jar” will soothe, plump and tighten skin naturally. It’s made with a rare combination of New Zealand Manuka Honey, Bee Venom, Shea Butter, Evening Primrose oil, Olive leaf extract, and Carrot and Citrus polypeptides, your skin will look and feel more youthful and radiant. I leave it on for about 25 minutes and wash it off with a warm cloth. It smells lightly plant based and works hard to soften skin, target blemishes, fights wrinkles and leaves skin very moisturized!
DO NOT USE IF YOU’RE ALLERGIC TO BEE STINGS.

Plantogen Hydrating Moisturiser for Normal/Dry Skin $48:
This moisturizer is lovely. Lightly scented and creamy this intensive hydrating moisturizer is packed with plant extracts, vitamins and antioxidants in a liposomal solution to ensure targeted delivery. Contains natural Manuka Honey, Green Tea, Chamomile extracts and Vitamin E and Vitamin C, Wheat Germ Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil and Lecithin to help diminish fine lines, and reduce the signs of premature aging while relieving dryness. Perfect for everyone, this will leave skin softer, more firm and it’s another perfect Plantogen product in that a little goes a LONG way. A dime size amount will cover your whole face – really. It’s that rich! But this lightweight formula sinks into dry skin and targets wrinkles and especially dry areas. My skin has been brighter and shown marked improvements in having an even and consistent tone!
